Some ideas that I would like to leave in this world
This blogpost contains a short description of some ideas that kept running on my mind for a while now. In addition to all other thoughts on this website and the knowledge I gathered on my Freelance Consulting Website, I also had some entrepreneurial ideas for organizations I would like to build. I already wrote down some thoughts about these ideas in the past, but only shared them with very few people so far.
With my upcoming knee surgery and my plan to use the hidden chances in the planned therapy, I got the idea to share these ideas for the greater good already. I’m very sure that the surgery will go well, but this is also a good moment to take this step and find out wherever sharing them may lead to. And just in case, these ideas are now out there, accessible and won’t be lost, even if something unexpected should happen to me.
Because in the end, I don’t have to build all of these organizations - even though I have the inner desire to do so. But I definitely would like to see them - or rather their positive impact, especially for the climate - in our world. I probably won’t be able to work on all of these ideas anyways, especially as I currently neither have the required expertise and financial opportunities for funding nor enough time and energy to build them all successfully. The financial means for the ideas are especially important, because the ideas mostly come from an impact-oriented point of view instead of business opportunities to generate profits for the shareholders.
Here you find the list of these ideas and why I would like to see them in this world:
Driving the food culture change for a more sustainable nutrition, which I have been thinking about, with a charity identifying and pushing effective ways for the culture change and a private label brand spreading the required products while financing the charity.
Healthy and sustainable snacks that can be enjoyed a lot without any regrets - neither health- nor sustainability-related (made with more sustainable ingredients that are sourced fairly).
A travel agency that only offers very sustainable travels, which create more positive impact through a little bit of volunteering at the destination while minimizing the environmental footprint and reliably compensating the emissions that still remain.
A platform to show the most effective actions individuals can take to protect the climate: in their daily life, with donations / compensations and in their careers.
A network bringing together problems and solvers so traveling people can create impact while traveling with an appropriate reward and also smaller companies all over the world can receive experienced support for a value-based compensation and a unique local experience.
An older idea is a Studentersamfundet in Germany or elsewhere outside Norway in order to foster the development of young people to confident personalities who know what they're able to achieve with their work from early on.
And here is the link to the additional notes for the first 5 of these entrepreneurial ideas. As I wrote above, I already gathered some thoughts more or less structured on slides. These “plans” are far from ready to go yet, but some ideas already have a more precise description than others.
They were all naturally created with an impact-orientation because I see a need for them in this world - especially to still create a better and happier future for all of us on a planet without devastating climate change. I am aware of the weakness of my personal thoughts and the social bubble I am in: The target group is most likely too small such that economically they are probably not an interesting case.
But I also hope that more people start to realize the challenging and risky situation we put our only home planet in. We are on the edge of taking either a “safer” path with a chance to stay within the 1,5 °C global warming or run into a scenario of devastating climate change where we lose control of the tipping points. Johan Rockström explained the situation very well with many diagrams in this TED talk.
The ideas are meant to be impact focused with the executions mostly done by non-profit organizations
My “problems” when creating such entrepreneurial ideas are that I want to maximize my impact for a better and happier world to live in, offer a product or service that is good enough to reach my own high standards, treat all stakeholders in the way I would like to be treated, and thus communicate transparently. In order to achieve this, act impact-oriented and with integrity, I believe that most ideas should be executed by non-profit organizations to keep the important values in place instead of prioritizing profits and shareholder value.
So I hope that you can also see the impact potential in these ideas, but maybe even an economical potential in addition. If the latter is also the case, please reach out to me directly so we can evaluate how the ideas could be executed.
If someone else is building organizations working on these ideas already or would like to execute them now - maybe together with me, please feel free to reach out to me and connect. I would highly appreciate to learn about the development, get to know the entrepreneurs and would also be happy to support with my own ideas, contacts and other supportive work.
…
There are also a few more things that I would like to do and which are somewhat related with the ideas I want to leave in this world. They are more personal projects that I still want to execute myself, though. Because I just started wrting about them to, I apparently had a strong urge to share them, which I follow with the upcoming list:
I shared another old idea in the link above: It was my plan to make an impact trip to West Africa to investigate what else could help improve the overall living standards of cocoa farmers and mitigate structural problems.
I would like to open a restaurant once I brought all my other ideas to a level where they can run without my daily input; probably when I’m >>50 years old or even retired in my normal job. I could go into much more details, but basically it would be a place to cook for and host friends and strangers alike and whom I make happy with locally sourced, more sustainable dishes.
There are also countless open travel-related and other topics on my mind. For the future, I have a list of several objectives in different categories extending from work via travel and sport to social and other objectives.
I also wish that in the past I had found the time to summarize more travels and learnings from a few trips, which are currently still open:
My traveling experiences in Latin America and especially the travels after my internship in Colombia where I so far only have shared photos in my galleries of Colombia and Peru.
All the important and interesting skills I had the chance to learn in my last jobs especially at BCG, but also at JOKOLADE.
More learnings and guides about my big Interrail trip in 2023, which i want to address shortly after my knee surgery, though.
Similarly, I’m still planning to edit and share the best photos from my 3-month Interrail trip.
